Son of Let’s Elope (NZ) heads for Melbourne Cup Glory

Outback Joe (Elvstroem-Let’s Elope (NZ) ) son of mighty Melbourne Cup winning mare Let’s Elope has won today’s Group 2 Adelaide Cup 3200m $400,000.
The Nigel Blackiston trained stayer was too strong in the concluding stages of the 3200m time honoured event, taking his stake earnings past $435,000.
Black Tycoon was a brave runner up, whilst Base (by Zabeel) ran a strong 3rd with Like A Carousel also genuine in 4th place.
Once touted as a wasted talent, Nigel Blackiston has been able to bring out the best in the 6 year old gelding with also a win in the Listed Bagot Hcp 2800m on New Year’s Day.
“He is a tough, progressive, up and coming stayer”, Blackiston enthused.
Let’s Elope has already produced G2 Winner and underrated stallion Ustinov (Seeking The Gold (USA)-Let’s Elope (NZ) ) currently standing at Moorookyle Park Thoroughbreds, Smeaton, Victoria, and may well have another Melbourne Cup in the family with Outback Joe.
